When I have a rough day, I like to make a cocktail that hits. A bourbon old fashioned is one of the first cocktails that I learned and is my favorite cocktail to make for myself. My personal twist is to make it super orange. While I love Luxardo cherries, I find that orange and bourbon is just a perfect pair on their own. This cocktail is just a simple cocktail that impresses on its' own. I love the flavors of the orange and the sweetness of the whiskey. A perfect cocktail for a long day or a private date at home. It's sexy and strong.
Nothing wrong with a good one
Bourbon old fashioned
Ingredients
2 oz Bourbon
1/2 oz Cointreau
1/2 oz Orange juice (about half an orange)
6 dashes of Orange Bitters
1 brown sugar cube
Garnish: Large Ice cube and Orange slice
Recipe: In a mixing glass, pour orange juice, bourbon, and cointreau. Then dash the bitters. In an old fashioned glass, muddle the sugar cube in the orange slice. Add the ice cube. Stir the mixing glass ingredients in a quick succession (think like you want to hear the spoon hit each side of the glass). Pour from the mixing glass into the old fashioned glass. Sip slowly.
