Please don't eat the Daisies

This cocktail is a play on a manhattan that is perfect for summer. I love a good manhattan and I had a couple watermelons from the farm share so I decided to juice one and use it for a few watermelon cocktails. Bourbon and watermelon are a great pair since there is a balance of strength and sweetness.

Ingredients

2 oz Bourbon

1 1/2 oz watermelon juice

1/2 oz sweet vermouth

Spiral of honey

Garnish: basil

Recipe: In a mixing glass, muddle basil. Pour bourbon, watermelon juice, and sweet vermouth. Stir. Spiral honey in a coupe glass. Pour from mixing glass and garnish with a little basil.

This cocktail is perfect for a night in and a movie. It's a great summer cocktail that mixes flavors of herbs and watermelons. I don't think there is a particular bourbon that goes with it but you want something smooth and not too strong. You don't want to overpower the taste of watermelon.
