Strawberries in the Winter: Bourbon Cocktail

Sometimes we need a sweet and fruity cocktail. This whiskey wednesday I'm sharing a fun twist on a bourbon cocktail with lime juice and strawberry simple syrup.

Strawberries with Extra

Bourbon Cocktail

Ingredients

2 oz Bourbon

1 oz Cointreau

1 oz Lime Juice

1 oz Strawberry Simple Syrup

Garnish: Strawberry

Strawberry Simple Syrup is super easy to make! You just have to have a cup of sugar, a cup of strawberries sliced, and a cup of sugar in a pot. Heat the combo at mid to high heat. Let the sugar melt and watch the strawberries lose color. Once all the strawberries lose the pink color and the sugar is melted, you can cool it off and strain out the strawberries. Easy peasy for syrups and creating cocktails!

Recipe: In a cocktail shaker with ice, pour all ingredients. Close and shake until cold (about ten seconds). Strain into an old fashioned glass. Garnish with a strawberry. If bourbon isn't your thing, you can use another whiskey or you can add a bit more lime juice. This will add a bit more bitterness so you have to be careful about your taste level and the balance.
