Take me back to Tennessee

I love Tennessee. I went on the whiskey trail years ago with my mom (yay family bonding) and let me tell you it was fantastic. The state is so green, I learned so much about making whiskey, and I had fun with my mom. The state still makes me want to go back.

Ole Smokey has some of my favorite twists on flavored whiskey. I love their salty caramel whiskey on its' own with a big ice cube. It's great to add to cocktails for an additional sweet flavor too. What I appreciate the most about making whiskey cocktails with Ole Smokey is that I can usually eliminate the simple syrup or honey because of the added sugar. This reduces the work and also helps to make sure you aren't overdoing the sugar. I've included my favorite way of enjoying whiskey: hot cocktails in the winter.

So Salty it is So Good

Salty Caramel Whiskey Hot Cocoa

Ingredients

Starbucks Salted Caramel Hot Cocoa Mix

3 oz Skim Milk

1 1/2 oz Salty Caramel Whiskey

Garnish: Marshmallows

Recipe: In a stove pot, heat milk and stir in salted caramel hot cocoa mix. In a mug, pour the hot cocoa and then salty caramel whiskey. Stir. Garnish with marshmallows.

Anything is better with Peanut butter

Peanut Butter Hot toddy

Ingredients

2 oz Water

1 spiral of Honey

1 half of Lemon juiced (about a 1/2 ounce)

2 dashes of Cinnamon

2 oz Peanut Butter Whiskey

Garnish: Cinnamon Stick and Lemon Peel

Recipe: Prepare hot toddy combination, heat water, honey, cinnamon, and lemon. Pour into a mug. Stir in peanut butter whiskey. Garnish with a cinnamon stick and lemon peel.

These cocktails are perfect for a chilly snow day or just a day where you want to go back to a happy memory. I hope you give them a try! I'll definitely be having one the next time it snows.
