Today's inspiration is the family. I love the Addams family. I grew up watching the movies and fell in love with creepy vibe. Now I love to watch the 60s show and it has surpassed all the movies. It's clever and creepy and so fun to watch. Whenever it gets to the fall, I want to curl up with my cup of tea and watch it with my family.
To fully enjoy the Addams family as an adult. I have created a bunch of cocktails to set you in the mood. They are perfect for any Halloween shenanigan from watching scary movies to eating candy to carving a pumpkin. Although I wouldn't recommend holding a knife while drinking more than one of these.
The Old Addams Spirit
Bourbon old fashioned
Ingredients
2 oz Bourbon
3/4 oz Creme de Violette
1/2 oz Blood Orange Liqueur
Three dashes of angostura bitters
One sugar cube
Garnish: Luxardo cherries and Orange slice
Recipe: In a mixing glass, pour bourbon, blood orange liqueur, and creme de violette. Stir. In an old fashioned glass, muddle sugar cube and bitters. Add ice and an orange slice. Pour from mixing glass. Garnish with luxardo cherries.
Pro Tip: This cocktail is great for cooler evenings. If you want to push the orange flavor, muddle the orange slice with the sugar and bitters. You can use an orange peel to add the oils to the rim of the glass so that it hits your tongue quickly. I also suggest you choose your bourbon to match your balance so look for something that is spice forward and not too sweet so that it isn't overpowering.
Wednesday Every day
Champagne cocktail
Ingredients
2 oz Blanc de Blanc Champagne
1 oz Creme de Mure
1/2 oz Creme de Cassis
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
Garnish: Ghost Peep
Recipe: In a cocktail shaker with ice, pour creme de mure, creme de cassis, and simple syrup. Shake until cold. Pour into a chilled coupe glass and top with blanc de blanc champagne. Garnish with a Ghost Peep.
Pro Tip: This champagne cocktail can be overwhelmed by the Creme de Cassis. Try to balance out your preference for blackcurrant so you still get the balance of blackberry and lemon juice.
Morticia my darling
Champagne Cocktail
Ingredients
2 oz Extra dry Brut Champagne
1 oz Creme de Violette
1/2 oz Luxardo Cherry liqueur
1/2 oz Lime Juice
1/2 oz Simple Syrup
Recipe: In a shaker with ice, pour creme de violette, Luxardo cherry liqueur, lime juice, and simple syrup. Shake until cold. Pour into a chilled flute glass and top with extra dry brut champagne.
Pro Tip: This is a sweet champagne cocktail. If you like things a little less sweet, reduce the amount of Luxardo liqueur and increase the lime juice. Creme de Violette is a floral flavor that will go with both as a majority and won't overpower.
